Today was a very special day for the Stop Spread Bad Bugs Consortium. We had the joy of celebrating Saha Satvati’s PhD defense at the Università di Siena, where she officially became Dottoressa. She is the first PhD candidate from SSBB to complete her doctorate, making this an important milestone not only for her, but for all of us in the consortium!
Saha, originally from Iran 🇮🇷, carried out her PhD between the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Genova 🇮🇹 and SETLANCE SRL in Siena 🇮🇹.
Her thesis supports the use of molecular dynamics simulations as a pre-experimental screening and mechanistic tool to accelerate the development of peptide-based therapeutics against antimicrobial-resistant pathogens.
Saha about her graduation: “Yesterday, I officially defended my PhD thesis and was awarded my PhD degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This three-year journey has been full of challenges and personal growth. It gave me the opportunity to explore new scientific questions, develop myself as a researcher, and experience moments that I will always carry with me. Looking back, I am truly happy that I chose to do a PhD. I would like to sincerely thank my supervisors for their support, and trust throughout this path, Walter Rocchia and Chiara Falciani. I am also grateful to the Stop Spread Bad Bugs network for funding this project and providing me with international research opportunity. I am proud to close this chapter and excited for what comes next”.
