Liza Nguyen
PhD Candidate – DC3
My name is Liza Nguyen, a French woman who loves to travel and work in international labs.
A few years ago, I fell into science while doing the first year of medical school and discovered the magical and infinite world of organic chemistry. From then on, I pursued an academic degree in chemistry, while keeping in touch with biology through a double degree during my second year of undergraduate studies.
In 2022, I obtained a master’s degree in organic chemistry at the University of Le Mans, in France. My interest in antimicrobial molecules developed while working in this field of research during the internship I did in the Sydnes group at the University of Stavanger as part of my master’s degree.
Since the beginning of 2023, I am a PhD student in organic chemistry within the Marie Curie project “Stop Spread Bad Bugs”. My work focuses on biological molecules linked by click chemistry that aim to be used as antimicrobial compounds.
In the future, my goal is to work in the field of biochemistry and get a permanent position in a company abroad. Outside of work and science, I am an outdoor enthusiast – hiking, skiing, scuba diving, paragliding, among others.
